2011 Volunteer of the Year

Congratulations to Lauren Weems for being recognized for her outstanding contributions to the Calvert Elementary community. Lauren has served on the PTA Executive Board, as its Treasurer, for 4 years. Additionally, she has co-chaired Calvert on the Run for two years, a club that serves over 100 children pursuing a "marathon" by running twice each week for 26 weeks. The Community Garden at our school could not exist without her donation of raised boxes, and Lauren played a huge role in the Harvest Festival that highlighted our Garden. Never mind that Lauren attended nearly every school event, volunteering her time and resources at every one. It's no wonder that she has managed to learn the name of nearly every student at Calvert Elementary. A huge thank you to Lauren, and ALL volunteers, that make CES such a wonderful place to learn!
